Mozzani, Luigi

Luigi Mozzani, born in Faenza on March 9, 1869, and died in Rovereto on August 12, 1943, was an Italian guitarist, luthier, and composer. Around 1890, he was admitted to the Bologna Conservatory to study oboe; however, Mozzani also began studying the guitar, which he quickly mastered. In April 1891, he toured Germany, France, Spain, and Algeria as a solo guitarist and oboist. His tours took him to America, where he lived for two years (1894-1896). He published three volumes of guitar studies in New York. He then settled in Paris, where he met the leading guitarists of the time: Alfred Cottin, Gelas, and Miguel Llobet.
